The Weidt Group’s David Eijadi and Tom McDougall to Retire in April

Principals at Energy and Software Consulting Firm Position Top Firm Executives for Success in Transition.

Minneapolis, MN, March 12, 2016 --(PR.com)-- The Weidt Group®, offering energy analysis and consulting to reduce the environmental impacts of building design and construction, has announced that David Eijadi, FAIA, LEED AP BD+C, and Tom McDougall, Assoc. AIA, PE, will retire from the firm in April. Throughout their tenure, The Weidt Group has grown to become one of the nation’s foremost energy software and consulting firms.

“The leadership that David and Tom have provided throughout the years has made The Weidt Group a national leader in energy analysis and energy software design,” said Tom Birdsey, president and CEO of EYP, Inc. “As The Weidt Group is an integral part of the EYP family, our overall success is a reflection of their commitment to excellence. Their dedication has allowed us to provide opportunities to develop internal talent and build our bench of leadership to promote an increasingly positive future at The Weidt Group and EYP as a whole.”

To continue Eijadi and McDougall’s leadership, The Weidt Group has named successors from within the company’s team of top industry talent. Jason Steinbock, PE, BEMP, LEED® AP BD+C, principal and senior energy analyst at the firm, will assume oversight of all business development efforts from Eijadi, and Jim Douglas, PE, LEED® AP, will take over management of energy and design software services from McDougall.

Steinbock joined The Weidt Group in 1998. His work includes providing comparative analysis services for high performance buildings, life-cycle analyses, daylighting systems and monitoring and analysis of completed buildings to verify that energy performance goals have been met. He also regularly speaks at industry conferences, including AIA Convention, Association of Energy Services Professionals (AESP) National Conference and the ASHRAE Winter Conference, and publishes papers with AESP and the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE). Steinbock is an ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air-Conditioning Engineers) Certified Building Energy Modeling Professional.

Douglas also joined The Weidt Group in 1998 and currently works as Director of Operations. He has held many roles while at the firm, including energy specialist, project manager and operations manager for both utility and open market programs. Douglas served on the ASHRAE Standard 90.1 Energy Cost Budget subcommittee for many years as a voting member for Appendix G, which is the leading Energy Performance Standard for commercial, institutional and multi-family buildings. Douglas has been active in local and regional professional organization efforts, including serving as ASHRAE Twin Cities chapter president in 2008-09.

“I’ll miss being part of the team we grew at The Weidt Group, but I’m excited about these two widely respected colleagues and peers in the industry, Jason and Jim, who have risen to become our firm leaders,” said Eijadi. “They represent the firm’s ongoing commitment to long-range vision and development. This has already been a seamless transition with positive benefits for our team, our clients, partners and our industry as a whole.”

Eijadi, who joined The Weidt Group in 1992, is a well-regarded inventor, speaker, author and educator on the topics of daylighting, energy efficiency and change management. As an architect, researcher and inventor, he has contributed to the leading edge of many of today’s practices. Since joining the firm in 1987, McDougall has been an energy, daylighting and environmental design consultant for numerous award-winning projects. In his role, he has contributed to several energy guidelines, authored environmental building design publications, and regularly consults with major building manufacturers.

“It has been an honor to be a member of The Weidt Group family, and to work on award-winning projects with one of the nation’s foremost energy and software consulting firms,” said McDougall. “We have wonderful leadership in place that has been developed internally over the years, and our clients will experience the same unmatched level of service that they have come to expect from us. Through this transition, I am excited about the future of The Weidt Group with incredible talent such as Jason and Jim leading the way.”
