When asked about how the company is being received, the company’s principal, Matthew Hardesty, said, “The status quo of job seekers and hiring managers has turned into mutual apathy. Job seekers rarely investigate a company’s culture or background prior to submitting an application. This is partly due to the lack of information employers provide in their job listings. Employers are reluctant to reveal company details which exacerbates the issue. The effect of these combined behaviors is that is that job seekers rarely hear back about their applications and hiring managers are bombarded with applications that barely meet the application requirements. This is especially true for small and medium size businesses that post job ads on sites like Craigslist where moderation of applications is nonexistent. We want to help bridge that gap.”

When asked how the company plans to drive this change in behavior, he went on to say, “So far, ResponseHire has seen a major interest by job seekers who are willing to conduct more research and pay a small fee each time they submit an application in return for prompt feedback from employers on whether or not they may be selected for an interview. So, we will continue to ask ourselves the question since both parties have expressed clear frustration with the status quo. In a way, we are acting as a mediator. If we can get job seekers and employers to meet in the middle, so to speak, then we’re in business.”

The company recognizes that incomplete applications and unqualified candidates lead to inefficiency in human resource departments and, by extension, increased cost to recruit new talent, higher employee turnover, and lower ratings on company review sites like Glassdoor. This can have a heavy impact on smaller companies that rarely have the knowledge or experience necessary to inform the decision to invest in the recruitment of high quality talent. ResponseHire aims to remedy the situation with emphasis on thorough applications and specialized algorithms to help filter, rank, and respond to applicants with easy-to-use online tools.
