)-- Construction of College Station’s newest mixed-use, luxury student housing community is ahead of schedule. The first 144 beds will open August 2016, with a second phase available in December. The full site will open August 2017.
Once completed, the 50-acre development will include 3,402 beds, three resort-style pools, a rooftop amenity deck, three fitness centers, BBQs and fire pits, sand volleyball courts, quiet courtyards, and plenty of green space throughout the facility. The buildings will include interior activity rooms, study rooms, social lounges, and plenty of gathering space. Apartment amenities will include walk-in closets, in-unit washer and dryers, faux wood floors, and gourmet kitchens.
“The Park West project is in full swing, with construction operations well underway on all 15 buildings,” Servitas Vice President of Construction Services Aaron Docsa said. “Through perseverance and forward planning, our general contractor has been able to maintain the project schedule, including the early delivery of 144 beds. Our construction operations are being managed by The Weitz Company, who in turn, has energized their vast resources to procure some of the finest contractors and subcontractors available and leverage them against a very time sensitive completion schedule. Because of these efforts, Servitas will receive 144 beds ahead of schedule. “Due to the project’s sheer size and scheduling constraints, Servitas and The Weitz Company have engaged the partnering process In Its truest form,” said Docsa.
Because the full site will open a year after the first phase, Servitas sought to provide a way for future residents to step into the finished project. Servitas will be one of the first developers to bring the innovation of virtual reality to student housing. Students will be able to explore any of 13 different floor plans and experience units in 3D through the use of Oculus’ Rift virtual reality headset.
