A Web Series on Climate Change Hosted by a Man on the Moon Premieres on Mother Earth Day

“La Granda Bildo” combines a news program with a fictional reality show to address climate change.

New York, NY, April 17, 2016 --(PR.com)-- A web series on climate change hosted by a man on the Moon premieres on Mother Earth Day.

“La Granda Bildo” combines a news program with a fictional reality show to address climate change.

On April 22nd, 2016 (Mother Earth Day), a web series on climate change will start addressing this crucial topic in a way no one has tried before. La Granda Bildo (meaning “The Big Picture” in Esperanto) will publish a weekly episode on YouTube informing the general public about climate change through a news program with short interviews to top scientists, activists and politicians from all over the world. But every episode will also expose the life of the news anchor: a man with amnesia locked in a space station on the Moon with a contract that engages him to keep alive a bonsai tree and lead the news program on climate change, for a whole year.

“The objective of this series is to reach the general public that in general ignores documentaries on the subject but is attracted to fictional stories,” said Javier Horacio Alvarez, film director, creator and independent producer of the series. “The fictional character of La Granda Bildo will develop the personal changes that are needed in global population to address climate change before it’s too late. The series is designed to raise massive awareness of the anthropogenic nature of this planetary ecological crisis, inspiring emotional commitment to embrace possible solutions. This will be achieved through a dramatic representation of the epic challenge we all face today as a species,” he added.

This web series is financed through an ongoing crowdfunding campaign in the Patreon platform (www.patreon.com/LaGrandaBildo). “It’s a non-profit production, and I’m currently producing weekly episodes independently with this campaign that has no significant contributors or popularity so far. However, I’m taking this risk to correspond the sense of urgency our global crisis demands,” said Mr. Alvarez.
