San Mateo, CA, April 19, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Nandi Yoga (www.nandiyoga.com) will be hosting San Mateo’s first celebration for International Day of Yoga on Tuesday, June 21st from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm in Central Park. The event, sponsored by Nandi and the Lululemon Store in Burlingame, will include free yoga classes, kirtan and meditation.

“By proclaiming June 21 as the International Day of Yoga, the General Assembly has recognized the holistic benefits of this timeless practice and its inherent compatibility with the principles and values of the United Nations,” noted Ban Ki-Moon, the UN’s Secretary General, in December 2014. The first International Day of yoga was observed around the world last June 21st with over a million participants across 84 nations.

This year, San Mateo will join in the celebration. Mayor Joe Goethals will issue the declaration at the City Council Meeting at 7 pm the night before the event. Wendy Klein, Nandi’s founder, hopes that International Yoga Day will be the next step to bringing our community together through yoga not only in San Mateo but also the rest of the Peninsula.

At Nandi Yoga, people of all ages and abilities practice in an earth-friendly environment, supported by nurturing, experienced teachers and fellow practitioners. The studio offers a wide range of daily classes in diverse styles for adults, children and families, as well as a community class every Sunday.
