Building Peaceful Families Hosts 10th Golden Grandmothers Recognition Luncheon

On May 14, Building Peaceful Families will host 50 grandmothers for its 10th Golden Grandmothers Luncheon, honoring remarkable women who have sacrificed their retirement to raise their grandchildren.

Campbell, CA, April 20, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Building Peaceful Families, a 501(c)3 non-profit that provides programs to enrich the lives of men, women, and children in Silicon Valley, has announced its 10th Golden Grandmothers Recognition Luncheon to be held May 13th at the Campbell Community Center, Orchard Valley Banquet Hall, Campbell, CA.

For the 10th year, Building Peaceful Families is celebrating 50 grandmothers who have sacrificed their own retirement to raise their grandchildren. In Santa Clara County, the vast majority of children in out-of-home placement are being raise by grandmothers. These amazing women play an important role not only in the lives of their grandchildren but also in our community. They help keep brothers and sisters together and families intact, as well as providing a familial alternative to foster care. Since 2004, Building Peaceful Families has honored more than 700 grandmothers.

"Our goal is to make this day as memorable as possible for each grandmother," says Kat Boyd, Chairman of the 2016 Golden Grandmothers Recognition Luncheon. "As guests of Building Peaceful Families, they are treated to a wonderful lunch, corsages, gifts, and many smiles and hugs!"

The Golden Grandmothers Recognition Luncheon is organized by volunteers, and is funded entirely by donations, seat and table sales, and in-kind contributions from individuals and community partners. Anyone who has a grandmother is invited to attend! For questions, reservations, or to make a donation, please contact Kat Boyd at katb.bpf@gmail.com or visit www.buildingpeacefulfamilies.org.
