)-- Denver-based law firm Bieging Shapiro & Barber announced a name change to Shapiro Bieging Barber Otteson LLP.
Along with the name change, the firm unveiled a new logo and changes to its website at www.sbbolaw.com. The new name became effective April 25, 2016.

In his practice, Otteson assists corporations and financial institutions with mergers, acquisitions, securities offerings, general commercial agreements, technology-related issues and matters involving state and federal banking laws, regulations and supervisory agencies. He also assists financial institutions with the negotiation of regulatory agreements, business and capital plans, and with administrative proceedings related to regulatory enforcement actions.
The firm has represented clients in a number of noteworthy recent banking transactions, including Heartland Financial’s $83.5 million acquisition of CIC Bancshares, Inc., parent company of Denver-based Centennial Bank, and ColoEast Bankshares’ recent acquisition agreement whereby it will be acquired by Triumph Bancorp, Inc. for $70 million.
SBBO also served as outside legal counsel to Guaranty Bancorp in a merger agreement between Guaranty and Home State Bancorp. This merger will create one of the largest Colorado-based bank holding companies, with the combined entity having approximately $3.3 billion in assets.
