Islands Society Founder Recognized as "Person to Watch Who Wants to Change the World" by United Nations Foundation

Recognition based on work to inspire and empower women and young people in Hawaii and the Pacific Islands.

Honolulu, HI, April 29, 2016 --(PR.com)-- The United Nations Foundation has named Eddie Walsh, Founder and President of the Islands Society, as a person to watch who wants to change the world.

Walsh was recognized for his work to inspire and empower women and young people in Hawaii and the Pacific Islands to improve the quality of life in their own communities by participating in international affairs.

About Eddie Walsh
Michael Edward “Eddie” Walsh is the Founder and President of the Islands Society. Previously, he served as a Senior Foreign Correspondent. He also served as a Senior Marketing and Communications Manager at Microsoft, Management Consultant at Northrop Grumman Corporation, and Briefer at the Department of Defense. Separately, Walsh was a Senior Fellow at Georgetown University, Vice Chair of International Correspondents at the National Press Club, Member of the NATO/PfPC Emerging Security Challenges Working Group, Exchange Researcher at Waseda University, Visiting Fellow at Universität der Bundeswehr München, Young Leader at Pacific Forum, Next Generation Fellow at the American Assembly, Non-Resident Fellow at Federation of American Scientists, WSD-Handa Fellow at CSIS, Young Public Intellectual at the Kakehashi Project, Public Diplomacy Discussion Group Chair at Young Professionals in Foreign Policy, and Recipient of the Certificate of Appreciation of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff. Walsh received his BA in International Studies and MA in International Relations from the Johns Hopkins University. He also completed Executive Education in Product Innovation at Harvard Business School, Executive Education in Marketing at the Wharton School, and Professional Education on Conflict Management at the United States Institute of Peace. Currently, Walsh is a PhD Student at the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London.
