Attention Occupational & Physical Therapists: Innovative & Effective Falls Prevention Training Coming to Louisville, KY

In Louisville, KY on May 13 an innovative & effective course will be held to teach Occupational and Physical Therapists, other healthcare and fitness professionals a unique, simple and fun program to help older adults avoid falls. Continuing Education Units (8) are available.

Franklin, MI, May 08, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Attention Occupational & Physical Therapists - Sharon Claye, President and Owner of Fall Prevention Training Services, LLC., is bringing an exciting new program to the Central Kentucky Region designed to help older adults avoid falls and increase confidence and independence.

On May 13 at the Hilton Garden Inn – Louisville Northeast, Claye, a certified Master Trainer in this program, will be teaching a course for Occupational and Physical Therapists, as well as fitness instructors, independent personal trainers, other health care professionals, and anyone interested in helping older adults to avoid falling by improving balance and strength.

“Every 13 seconds, an older adult is treated in the emergency room for a fall,” says Claye. “These accidents can be dramatically reduced through learning this set of easy, yet effective, activities. Older adults need no longer live in fear of falling.”

Developed by Dr. Betty Perkins-Carpenter, founder and President of Senior Fitness Inc., 6 Steps to Better Balance™ offers a multitude of activities designed to reduce the probability of falls, fear of falling and fall-related injuries by increasing body flexibility, leg strength, overall endurance and especially increase the older adults' confidence and ability to navigate their environment.

“We love this 6 Steps to Better Balance Program because it offers enjoyable activities rather than 'have-to' exercises which will make it fun for our older adults,” said Grace Carswell, MA, O.T.R, Owner of Better Body Gym and Training Center.

“We’re very glad that the Kentucky Board of Licensure for Occupational Therapist (KBLOT) and the Kentucky Physical Therapist Association (KPTA) have approved this course for eight Continuing Education Units (CEUs).”

Completion of the eight-hour training also qualifies the student for Continuing Education Credits (CECs) for several major personal trainer certifications.
