Los Angeles, CA, May 10, 2016 --(PR.com
)-- Viewers online can experience a #FlashbackFriday to 1963 this Friday, May 13th, when The Drunk Lonely Wives Book Club premieres on YouTube. Directed by Emmy-winner Mary Lou Belli (NCIS: New Orleans, Hart of Dixie), this new digital series set in 1963 centers on four neighbors who found a ladies-only book club in which friendships are formed and broken, secrets are revealed, social conventions are challenged, and juicy discussions are had — few of which have anything to do with the monthly book.
At a time when female representation in film, television, and new media is a hot button issue, The Drunk Lonely Wives Book Club boasts a slew of talented women both in front of and behind the camera. Created and written by Gilli Messer (ABC Discovers Showcase), the series features a cast of up and coming actresses, including Messer herself (Jessie, 2 Broke Girls), Tania Gunadi (Enlisted, Girl Meets World), Katie Enright (How I Met Your Mother), Ali Bayless (Halt and Catch Fire), and Malerie Grady (Alice in Murderland). On directing an ensemble of female performers, Belli commented: “It was an honor to work with such talented actresses and see their creation of funny, touching characters...and it was a hoot to see them transform themselves in those sexy dresses!”
The teaser trailer, released on Friday, May 6th, has already stirred conversation and excitement in the new media community on social media outlets. The May 13th premiere will mark the simultaneous release of the first three episodes of The Drunk Lonely Wives Book Club so that viewers can “binge watch” in the model popularized by streaming services.
