Clearwater, FL, May 10, 2016 --(PR.com
)-- On Tuesday, 3 May, a local neighborhood coalition met in the Scientology Public Information Center in downtown Clearwater to address neighborhood concerns and what they can do to help.
Despite the mass communication systems of media and social networks extent today, a study done by State Farm found that only 25% of Americans know their next door neighbors.
In 2009, a handful of local Scientologists started a group to increase communication with their neighbors. “We formed our group to take responsibility and benefit everyone in our neighborhood,” stated Janice Kenne, the chair of the group, “We started off having meetings and going from door to door seeing what we can do to make our neighborhood safer and create happier lives for the families here.”
The group expanded over the years into parties and get-togethers. “Everyone was invited. You could see the raised awareness and sense of community from this, with less crime and children playing safely on the streets.”
Looking for a regular meeting spot after work for her group, Janice found the conference room in the Scientology Information Center. “I heard that the conference was available for group meetings. It has the perfect setup and we’ve made it our regular go-to spot ever since.”
The Center’s conference provides over fourteen chairs, a long table, sound system, TV screen, DVD player, HDMI and USB connectors to serve various set-ups for group meetings to small business seminars.
“We make our conference room available to all like-minded groups to support their goals and mission,” said Amber Skjelset, Manager for the Scientology Information Center.
The Scientology Information Center opened in July 2015, after the Church of Scientology restored the historic Bank of Clearwater building. In addition to the expansive conference room, it houses four audio-visual information displays that answers questions on beliefs and practices of Scientology, as well as what else Scientologists do to help others.
