Employers Reveal Surprising Facts of Wearable Technology Use Within Their Workplace

Palm Beach Gardens, FL, May 18, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Employer use of wearable device technology for their employee population revealed surprising facts, according to the survey, The State of Wearables in the Workplace, conducted by the Corporate Health & Wellness Association, Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.

“We are thrilled to offer a snapshot of the employer use of wearable devices right now,” said Renée-Marie Stephano, President of the CHWA. “This information is a great tool for any player involved in wearable devices, from the wellness manger tasked with creating and fostering the program to the manufacturer who needs to know what employers need.”

The survey asked more than 300 human resource and wellness professionals questions about how they utilize wearable devices like how often they collect data, the information they collect, the platform they use as well as questions regarding the decision-making that went into these programs.

Stephano added that wearable devices are the future of wellness. “Employers can no longer afford to remain in dark about these devices,” she explained. “Knowing how other similarly situated companies make use of them is the first step.”

Key findings for The State of Wearables in the Workplace include:

Nearly two-thirds of employers do not currently offer, or plan to offer, wearable devices in their corporate wellness programs.
Almost a third of employers consider lack of knowledge a primary factor that has kept them from implementing wearables in the workplace.
More than three-quarters of employers indicate they want to accomplish increasing their users’ physical activity if they were to implement a wearable program.
Data collection and device use will help employers determine whether or not to subsidize the costs or portion of wearable devices within their wearables programs.
