Old Time Radio Show Lovers in for a Treat at the Scientology Information Center

On June 12th 2016 the East Coast Golden Age Theatre will bring some old-fashioned fun with a theatrical presentation of the Pulp Fiction Classic “They Killed him Dead” by L. Ron Hubbard. The performance will take place from 3 – 5pm in the Scientology Information Center in Downtown Clearwater. The event is open to the community and includes audience participation.

Clearwater, FL, May 28, 2016 --(PR.com)-- “Back in the 20’s, 30’s and 40’s before live streaming and television, reading and radio were kings,” stated Joanie Sigal, East Coast Golden Age Theatre producer. “After work, American families gathered around and listened to the radio and the popular radio shows of the day. Radio sparked their imaginations, and opened their hearts to the characters and shows of the day that became like family: The Lone Ranger, The Shadow, Abbott and Costello.”

On June 12th that radio magic returns with a modern day twist. In addition to the East Coast Golden Age Theater’s Joanie Sigal and Tom Godfrey performing, guests are invited to take on a role in the drama-comedy as well.

“Guests who want to exercise their acting skills will be given a role, a script and then participate in the show,” said Ms. Sigal.

“‘Careful Cassidy’ a top-notch detective from New York City’s homicide squad has never had a problem solving any murder, except this one, which involves an entire neighborhood,” added Ms. Sigal. The story has 11 speaking parts, including a part for on-the-spot home-made sound effects.”

The venue will accommodate 25 guests on a first come, first serve basis. RSVP is recommended. Refreshments will be served.

“Mr. Hubbard had a great sense of humor,” stated Amber Skjelset, the Manager of the Information Center. “This story is a perfect example of how creative he was in writing a murder mystery drama with a note of humor. It’s a very entertaining story for all ages!"

The L. Ron Hubbard East Coast Theater was founded in 2011 with the purpose of doing dramatic readings of fiction short stories written by Hubbard in the 30s and 40s; so as to encourage reading in young and old alike. While most of their performances have been in Florida; they have also performed in Maine, Columbia University in NYC and to the Boys & Girls Club in Harlingen, TX.

During the period that eventually became known as the Golden Age, Mr. Hubbard embarked upon a literary career ultimately spanning fifty years and immediately placing him at the forefront of American popular fiction authors. Ron Hubbard headlined the full spectrum of pulp magazines of the day – westerns, adventures, mysteries, science fiction, fantasy and even the occasional romance.
