Komal Goyal of 6e Technologies Named ODTUG 2016 Women in Technology Scholar

Komal Goyal was selected as ODTUG's 2016 WIT Scholar. She receives a free registration pass to ODTUG’s Kscope16 conference in Chicago June 26-30 and will participate in the Kscope16 WIT Roundtable session.

Wilmington, NC, June 04, 2016 --(PR.com)-- ODTUG, a 36,000+ membership organization of Oracle technologists from around the globe, has just named Komal Goyal of 6e Technologies as the ODTUG 2016 Women in Technology Scholar. Goyal is the managing partner of 6e Technologies and works in the Oracle Applications and ERP space. As part of her award, Goyal receives a free registration pass to ODTUG’s Kscope16 conference in Chicago June 26-30 and will participate in the Kscope16 WIT Roundtable session.

“Komal has a wonderful story about her own experiences as a woman in technology,” said Opal Alapat, ODTUG Board Member and Kscope16 Marketing Committee Chair. “She's been in the technology sector for over 20 years, starting as a programmer and then working her way up to managing partner. She created an internship program at her firm to provide opportunities for young women, she's a mentor, and she presents at conferences. Simply put, Komal embodies what we all strive to be as a woman in technology. We are proud to have selected her as our ODTUG WIT Scholar for 2016.”

Goyal is ODTUG’s second WIT Scholar. The program was created in 2015 to offer a learning opportunity for women, an underserved minority in the technology world. The winner receives a complimentary pass to ODTUG’s Kscope conference, which features over 300 sessions focused on Oracle APEX, ADF, BI, EPM, and Database users. EY is sponsoring the WIT Roundtable luncheon, which will focus on leadership skills, communication, and gender issues in the workplace.

“I am honored to be chosen as the winner of the ODTUG WIT Scholarship,” Goyal said. “I once heard Liz Gilbert, author of Eat Love Pray, say, ‘Know your home and come back to it.’ For me, home is the technology world. I started as a software engineer and had to struggle to keep myself in that industry due to the male dominance. It was at that time I decided that it is important to promote women in technology and most importantly support them to continue in the field.”

ODTUG is an Oracle user group and global not-for-profit organization focused on education and support for more than 36,000 Oracle technologists worldwide. The Kscope conferences bring more than 1,600 members together over the course of five days.

“ODTUG is a member-driven organization, and we are working from within to highlight all of the different faces of our members,” ODTUG President Natalie Delemar said. “I am proud that ODTUG and our WIT sponsor EY have embraced the importance of highlighting gender diversity in technology in the creation of this scholarship. ODTUG continues to help women break through boundaries at their workplaces through support and networking, and by highlighting their accomplishments.”
