PHIND Makes Game-Changing Move Into Real Time Data for Places

Irvine, CA, June 08, 2016 --(PR.com)-- In just 12 months of being voted the Battlefield Wildcard Winner at TechCrunch Disrupt in New York, PHIND has released a game-changing update to its search and discovery mobile application. Through visual, text or category search, PHIND aggregates content from popular apps so you can discover the best places to eat, shop or visit, in one simple experience. The update introduces new Trending and Reporting features, showing the company’s pivot into real time data.

With these new features, PHIND evolves into an experience where “Shazam” meets “Waze” for places. Through community-generated reports, users can learn about anything from wait time to music style, giving them real time insights on what’s happening at places nearby. PHIND's patent pending technology uses these reports to determine the trendiest spots in a city. The technology focuses on hyperlocal activity so users are instantly notified when they are near a trending spot. The algorithms take into account a user’s search patterns so notifications are contextualized. In this manner, PHIND takes away any guesswork when it comes to planning your day, or night, out.

The idea behind the latest overhaul of PHIND centers on the need for instant information. “In a world where everything is about real time, whether it’s with Snapchat Stories, Twitter Moments or Facebook’s Live Video Map, everyone wants to know what is happening now. We saw a fundamental problem with what's happening at places in real time,” says CEO & Co-founder, Rishi Jhunjhnuwala. “Many other apps tell you where to go, but you might end up at a popular spot to find that the music isn’t what you expected or the line is long. We’ve solved that,” he adds.

In addition to Trending and Reporting, the update boasts a redesigned user interface; deeper integrations with Yelp, Uber and OpenTable; smarter search functions related to the time of day; and improvements to its core visual technology, leading to faster and more accurate results.

Whether it is its ability to instantly identify what you’re looking at through a photo or instantly tell you what’s buzzing nearby, PHIND is out to be the go-to real time search and discovery platform for places. “This is an interesting time for us. As we saw with Google’s acquisition of Waze, real time data is highly valuable,” says Jhunjhnuwala. He continues, “With our ability to capture real time user traffic data for places, our new features pivot us into a segment of the market that is really taking off.”

Going forward, PHIND is aggressively focused on scaling its user base. The app, though available worldwide, is marketing heavily in key U.S. cities. They have already partnered with top spots in Los Angeles, such as E.P. & L.P., Tortilla Republic, Perch and Mrs. Fish.

Jhunjhnuwala discusses how this iteration of PHIND relates to his overall vision. “My goal with PHIND is to simplify the search and discovery process for places so users get everything they want quickly and efficiently, in one clean and beautiful experience. I’m excited that this update brings us one step closer to achieving that.”
