Fighting Hunger One Purchase at a Time

Blythewood, SC, June 09, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Many companies decide to give back to the community once they attain a certain level of success. But, Feed the Need Kitchen Supplies LLC has had a humanitarian mission incorporated into its business model from day one. The manufacturer of cooking and entertaining products donates a portion of the profits on every product sold to help fight hunger through the relief organization, Stop Hunger Now.

Feed the Need Kitchen Supplies was created by two optometrists and a former teacher who witnessed the prevalence of hunger worldwide while volunteering on service trips and teaching abroad. During their most recent service trip, the three decided to collaborate on a business that would help put an end to hunger. "Hunger is not a problem that is specific to any country, race or nationality. It is a pervasive problem around the world, especially for children," says company co-founder Dr. Travis Ray Zigler, an optometrist who also founded Eye Love LLC, an eyeglass company that donates part of its proceeds to fund free eye exams to those in need.

Feed the Need Kitchen Supplies LLC’s strategy is to take everyday kitchen and entertaining items and improve upon them. The company’s first product offering is a set of six silicone coasters in a rainbow of colors, nestled in a black silicone holder. The pebbled design of the flexible, non-slip coasters traps moisture to protect table surfaces and prevents glasses from sticking to the coasters. In addition, the different colors help to identify guests’ drinks, much like a wine charm. The fun color palette makes them ideal for indoor and outdoor entertaining, beach or lake houses, home cocktail bars, and even tailgating.

“We chose coasters for our first product launch because coasters are almost always used when people are enjoying themselves eating and drinking,” says Feed the Need Kitchen Supplies co-founder Adam Pixler. “Many people around the world don’t have that luxury, so our customers can feel good knowing their purchase has helped others.” According to Pixler, the company chose to support the non-profit hunger-relief organization Stop Hunger Now because of the charity’s high level of efficiency and global reach. The organization has provided nearly 263 million shelf-stable, nutritious meals to school feeding programs, orphanages and crisis relief centers in 73 countries around the world.

Feed the Need Kitchen Supplies plans to grow its contributions to the charity through the launch of additional products in the coming months, and eventually hopes to also build community kitchens in places of need around the world.

The silicone coaster set is available on Amazon.com for $13.97.
