Women Business Owners’ Publication Appoints Three New Board Members.

Raleigh, NC, June 22, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Monica Smiley, publisher and CEO of Enterprising Women magazine, has appointed Patricia Miller, Kelly Niessen and Rosemary Swierk to serve on the Enterprising Women advisory board. The board is comprised of a select group of women and men who support the publication and give back to the women business owners’ community by providing leadership, motivation and inspiration to thousands of women entrepreneurs across North America and around the world. Miller, Niessen and Swierk are all 2016 recipients of the Enterprising Women of the Year Award.

An accomplished executive with start-ups and not-for-profit organizations, Miller sits as CEO of SpaceBound Inc. and president of JZJ Properties. She co-partnered the technology corporation SpaceBound, Inc. from a small start-up in 1987 to an international provider of technology products and services. Miller is the mother of three amazing boys and the wife of one incredible man. She serves as Chair of the Board of Influencers for the World Leaders Group. Miller has been an active participant of the Adopt a Platoon campaign for more than 15 years and a mentor for start-ups through such organizations as Bad Girl Ventures. She is a member of 100 Women Making a Difference and sits on the advisory board for Enterprising Women Magazine. To name a few, Miller has made the Case Western School of Business - Weatherhead 100, the Inc 5000 Fastest Growing Companies in America, the Governor’s Award for Women’s Excellence in Enterprise and the 2016 Enterprising Women of the Year Award. She leads with and often speaks on the benefits of the Servant Leadership Philosophy within organizations and one’s personal life.

Niessen is the CEO and co-founder of KANDY Outdoor Flooring, Inc., a company that expands home experiences by providing new outdoor flooring for condo balconies. KANDY is a franchise model that deploys the unique value proposition of service, quality and choice. Niessen started the company and franchise system in Canada and is currently expanding to the U.S. Niessen is a true entrepreneur, utilizing experiences ranging from strategic sales, to executive roles in large telecommunications, retail and manufacturing firms, to acquiring and operating her own marketing list brokerage firm. She is passionate about connecting people and services and providing solutions to common problems such as dirty, barren and inhospitable condo balconies. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in human resources from Concordia University in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and an MBA from Simon Fraser University in Vancouver. Niessen is active in the business community and has served as the vice chair for the Forum for Women Entrepreneurs for a decade. She has also served on the board of trustees for the BC Sports Hall of Fame and in the board of advisors for the Advanced Systems Institute (ASI).

Swierk is founder and president of Direct Steel and Construction, a general contracting and construction management firm. Swierk holds a Bachelor of Science from Indiana University, a Dartmouth “Tuck” Executive Degree and the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Business Certificate. She has decades of experience in real estate development and construction. Additionally, she contributes her time in several community initiatives. Swierk has received recognition for her accomplishments from many organizations including Manufacturers, Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, Today’s Chicago Woman magazine, Athena International, Small Business Administration and the Chicago Sun Times. Swierk is also the recipient of the 28th annual Entrepreneur of the Year award from the national Women’s Business Development Center. Additionally, she is a State of Illinois appointee to the Small Business Development Center advisory board.
