CTS Releases Compact, High Performance Duplexers for Outdoor Metro Cell Base Stations

Lisle, IL, July 02, 2016 --(PR.com)-- CTS Corporation (NYSE: CTS) has released the UMD (Universal-Footprint Metro Cell Duplexer) family of products to offer a compact, high performance alternative to air cavity duplexers in metro cell base stations. Designed for frequencies less than 1 GHz, the UMD family can accommodate applications requiring 4-10W of output power at the antenna.

Metro cell base stations provide a mid-range of power and coverage that accommodates growing densities of wireless devices. The need for faster data transmission rates further accelerates the demand for such base stations in urban areas or other densely occupied spaces such as outdoor shopping districts, arenas or expo centers. Cost and size are major considerations when designing these systems, much of which depends on the components available to achieve a desired frequency and power class. With the release of the UMD family of duplexers, CTS offers best in class performance for metro cell base stations in a fraction of the space demanded by alternative duplexing technologies.

The UMD family of ceramic filters maintains a common footprint. By maintaining a single footprint, frequency changes in given base station do not impact the size of the component, eliminating the need to engineer separate designs for each frequency band. This practice extends to CTS’ other Universal-Footprint product families including the Universal-Footprint Pico Cell Duplexer (UPD) and Universal-Footprint Small Cell Duplexer (USD). The UMD family of duplexers further complements the CMD (ClearPlex Metro Cell Duplexer) family of ceramic filters, which supports frequency bands of greater than 1.5 GHz.

CTS Corporation is both an advanced ceramics manufacturer and component designer. This vertically integrated structure allows greater flexibility for the design and manufacture of ceramic filter solutions.

Functional units of the UMD family of ceramic duplexers are currently available for testing. For more information regarding the UMD family of duplexers visit www.ctscorp.com.
