Tech Coast Venture Network Forum Teaches Entrepreneurs What to do to Receive Angel Funding

Irvine, CA, January 18, 2008 --(PR.com)-- The Tech Coast Venture Network has invited Stephen Block, a Tech Coast Angel, to moderate a panel of angel investors to discuss what steps entrepreneurs can take to increase their chances of receiving angel funding. The program will be featured at TCVN’s January Forum at the offices of Knobe Martens Olson & Bear LLP in Irvine, Calif. on January 24, 2008 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM.

According to Bart Greenberg, TCVN chairman and partner at Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP, the forum will provide answers to questions concerning how a company can get financing from angel investors; what to do before an entrepreneur is ready to seek it; which kinds of companies and entrepreneurs are most likely to secure financing; how to make a strong impression on angel investors; what angels look for in a presentation and in due diligence; how much money can be secured from angels and how much of a company's equity should one expect to give to investors to get those funds; and what roles angel investors play in a company after funding. Greenberg noted that “Stephen Block led TCA’s largest deal for 2007 and he will also be able to share some great insights into how a deal at TCA is packaged, presented and closed.”

Greenberg continued by noting that “Not only will our members and guests at this Forum learn how to prepare for and get funding from angels, but they will also have the opportunity at our two networking sessions to meet and to talk to angel investors, venture capitalists, value-added and ‘connected’ service providers and other entrepreneurs.”

The TCVN Forum moderator is Stephen Block, a member of Tech Coast Angels, Southern California’s largest angel investing group. He serves on the Orange County chapter’s Executive Committee and is its representative to the TCA Board of Governors. He also is a member of the Board of Directors of Senomyx, Inc., a public biotech company based in San Diego, California. Mr. Block retired as the senior vice president and general counsel of International Flavors & Fragrances Inc. in December 2003, having served in that position for 12 years. He has 36 years of broad legal, management and executive experience at Fortune 500 corporations and a major New York law firm. He has previously served on the Boards of Directors of both private and public companies and on the Board of Governors of several industry trade associations and as the President of one of those groups. In addition to his legal background, Mr. Block has had extensive experience in domestic and international mergers and acquisitions and joint ventures. He has also drafted legislation, lobbied at both the state and federal levels, and testified before Congressional and state legislative committees concerning various government affairs issues. He has taught Securities Regulation at Pace University Law School and lectured in continuing legal and business education programs.
