Author Leads Campaign to Prevent Suicide

Professional writer and novelist Desiree Granby, inspired by her work with sufferers of depression, is launching a national campaign to offer support and prevent suicide.

Woodbridge, VA, August 03, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Professional writer and novelist Desiree Granby has today announced the launch of The Sunflower Effect with Desiree Granby, a multi-pronged effort to offer support to people suffering with depression and provide resources aimed at preventing suicide. Ms. Granby decided to launch the effort, which will include community events, a resource page, a blog, and a walk to prevent suicide, after her studies in psychiatry and work with affected groups showed her the incredible scope of the problem.

In support of these efforts, and to draw attention to the problem, Granby has authored a new novel, A Duplicate Moon, which deals with faith, depression, isolation, and the importance of family and community support. Response to the effort has been emotional and overwhelming, drawing more than two thousand followers across social media. Hundreds more have attended community events organized by Granby, as well as book signings and reading parties.

Sales of the novel have been encouraging, and a growing number of outlets are adding it to their inventory. The interest it has created is rapidly growing Granby's network of donors, support workers, and volunteers. The blog and online resources are scheduled to go live later this week, and the walk, which aims to raise a thousand dollars, will take place in September. In the interim, Ms. Granby is dedicating her time to her cause, meeting with affected individuals and working with organizations online and off.
