Dr. Murli Manohar Joshi Releases LexisNexis-Universal Book "The Indian Parliament- Beyond the Seal and Signature of Democracy" Authored by Devender Singh

Gurgaon, India, August 12, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Dr. Murli Manohar Joshi, Hon’ble Chairman, Estimates Committee, Lok Sabha, released LexisNexis’s book "The Indian Parliament- Beyond the Seal and Signature of Democracy," at Parliament House Annexe, in New Delhi on August 8, 2016, an evening in the presence of eminent dignitaries like Prof. K.V. Thomas, Hon’ble Chairman, Public Accounts Committee; Shri Bhartruhari Mahtab, Hon’ble Chairman, Railway Convention Committee and Leader of BJD in Lok Sabha; and Shri Rakesh Singh, Hon’ble Chairman, Committee on Coal and Steel and Chief Whip of BJP Parliamentary Party in Lok Sabha, along with eminent members from the Government of India, Bar and Media.

On the occasion, Dr. Murli Manohar Joshi said, “This book is a commendable narrative, an anthology as much an anatomy, and would be found immensely useful by one and all interested in the working of Parliament. The author of the book, Dr. Devender Singh, is very good with his language control and has presented a beautifully drafted book. There are debates in the Parliament after which bills are drafted and presented to the government. The fact is after reading the book, it becomes easier for the common man to understand the process of the Parliament, its activities and the tasks associated with it. The book also talks about various organisations in the Constitution, which keeps the government officials in check to prevent them from carrying out any unconstitutional activities.” Dr. Joshi also complimented the publishers LexisNexis-Universal Law Publishing for the high quality of the book.

During the occasion, Shri Bhartruhari Mahtab congratulated Mr. Devender Singh for writing a wonderful book and added, “Parliamentary policy is dynamic in nature, which keeps evolving itself and is still evolving. The Parliament has one of the best libraries in country and the author’s book is another great contribution to the Parliament’s library.” Congratulating the author on his achievement, Prof. K.V. Thomas said, “The book is a valuable addition to the present literature. The author has cited good precedents and brought out a book covering all aspects. The book describes at length the powers and functions of the Parliament.” Prof. K.V. Thomas also added that the chapters are analytical in nature.

Mr. Mohan Ramaswamy, Managing Director, LexisNexis India-South Asia, said, “We are thankful to Shri Devender Singh for bringing in his decades of cumulative experience, learnings and wisdom together in this book to ensure that it will be relevant, useful and relied upon with confidence by various segments and users for many more years ahead. This topic is extremely important and the subject matter is of very keen interest to people of the country and outside and this coming from someone who has spent his lifetime having a long time ring side view of the working of Indian Parliament is an icing on the cake. The author has referred to a wide range of parliamentary literature and woven a commendable narrative - an anthology as much an anatomy, of the Indian democratic system. It is a compelling book for the scholars of constitutional and parliamentary studies, the legislators, public servants, students and all those who desire to study and understand the working of the largest democracy of the world.”

During the event, Mr. Vikesh Dhyani, Director - Marketing, Customer Discovery & Innovation, LexisNexis® India-South Asia said, “The book brings in sharp relief, the intricacies of democratic institutions, the dynamics of parliamentary government, the public perception of Parliament, the intermittent democratic disquiet and the future of democracy itself. The book, a treasure trove of information, written in a lucid style, brings out the finer nuances of the working of Indian Parliament, the duties of its functionaries, its interface with other constitutional bodies and the Fourth Estate. It is an absorbing and instructive book replete with historic and contemporary precedents in the parliamentary annals of India.”
