North Florida’s Largest Volleyball Organization to Participate in Nationwide Promotion

Jacksonville Juniors Volleyball Association opens it doors this Saturday to volleyball enthusiasts for USA Volleyball’s “Open Court.”

Jacksonville, FL, August 27, 2016 --(PR.com)-- With the interest surrounding the sport of volleyball at an all-time high, volleyball organizations around the country have joined USA Volleyball (USAV) in a nationwide promotion designed to encourage potential new players to try volleyball for free. USAV Open Court will debut this Saturday, August 27, following the closing of the Rio Olympic Games, with a total of 44 locations across the United States participating in the event.

Jacksonville Junior Volleyball Association (JJVA) will be the host for the event here locally, and will welcome boys and girls of all ages to join some of their top coaches for skill drills, games, food and raffles. The event is open to the public, and there is no cost to participate. Doors will open at 9am, and the fun will continue until noon.

With the growing popularity of volleyball in the U.S. and internationally, the media gave volleyball a tremendous amount of exposure over the last two weeks, and members of the USAV want the Rio Olympic momentum to continue into their clubs across the country at a local level. “We really feel that Open Court is a tremendous opportunity for our clubs and RVAs to grow the game locally,” said USA Volleyball CEO Doug Beal. “Our Olympians are great role models and provide inspiration for the next generation.

As CEO of JJVA and Commissioner for the Florida Region of USA Volleyball, Mary Andrew has seen this growth in popularity first hand. She founded JJVA over 26 years ago, and has never witnessed the interest in the sport more intense. She recently relocated the JJVA training headquarters to a new 75,900 square foot building located off of Baymeadows road to accommodate the local demand for recreational and competitive volleyball training. Currently they have around 600 players and nearly 60 competitive teams that train on the JJVA’s 12 new courts.

“I love seeing the excitement and enthusiasm around the sport that I have dedicated my life to,” said Andrew. “Volleyball is a sport that not only teaches teamwork and promotes fitness, but it also teaches kids life lessons about hard work and achievement. We looking forward to welcoming everyone to JJVA for Open Court and to tour our new facility.”
