Interfaith Sanctuary's Creative Solution to Chronic Homelessness is Working

Boise, Idaho secular shelter Interfaith Sanctuary is having success with a new S.T.E.P.S. program getting chronically homeless into job force and universities.

Boise, ID, September 03, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Chronic homelessness is a major news story all across the nation. Homeless populations are swelling and problems that accompany out of control poverty make headlines and worry many people who live near impoverished areas.

Underfunded and non-existent mental health care combined with a lack of social services support is often at the crux of this issue.

There are several shelters in Boise, Idaho that cater to a sizable homeless crowd.

Interfaith Sanctuary is a secular non-profit shelter which has devised a proactive plan of action successfully turning their homeless "guests" into productive tax-paying citizens.

S.T.E.P.S. is Interfaith Sanctuary's unique tiered pathway that places a case worker with a guest who has shown initiative to break away from the street life. The process allows the guest to accomplish and graduate to the next level until self-sufficiency is achieved.

A recent graduate of this program was featured on KTVB in Boise. Justin Anderson is one of several successful launches from Interfaith Sanctuary and he is now a college student at Boise State University. Many of Interfaith Sanctuary's case workers are BSU alumni or in training as social workers through the University which has taken a great interest in Interfaith Sanctuary's S.T.E.P.S. program.

Justin went from a lifetime of homelessness (infancy to age 27) to becoming a productive student and soon to be part of the educated workforce in demand across the USA. He has inspired others who remain inside the shelter system to follow his path, and he will be giving back at Interfaith Sanctuary to mentor and help pull up those like him who want out of a despairing situation.

This is the goal of co-directors at Interfaith Sanctuary, Jodi Peterson and Dan Ault with their team.

There are many positive stories of success with Interfaith's S.T.E.P.S. program to share. So many people are at a loss to solve the homeless crisis all across the USA.
