About Ballet Arts of Austin

Ballet Arts of Austin provides superb classical ballet training for students age 3 to adult, with class levels ranging from pre-ballet (ages 3-5) to pre-professional. José Limón based Modern instruction is introduced at the upper levels to provide the broader dance experience required by professional companies and universities today. Lori Bodine Benold, school Founder and Director, teaches all Advanced ballet classes.

The Youth and Adult Beginner programs were developed for Ballet Arts of Austin by Tiffany Loos, Youth Curriculum Director. Loos - protégée of Alexandra Nadal, who provided her with seven years of one-on-one teacher training - used Nadal’s curriculum for inspiration. The Ballet Arts curriculum is based on a clear foundation of Russian (Vaganova) technique. Épaulement - the artful use of the head, arms and upper body - is essential to this training and is incorporated at the earliest levels, ensuring its natural integration into the dancer’s movement. Loos’ extensive ballet, Pilates and Yoga teaching experience are clearly visible in the program, which emphasizes proper placement, technique, and precision of movement.
