SMi’s New Masterclass Protecting the Blue Economy Through Maritime Surveillance Technologies is Now Open for Registration

SMi proudly presents their upcoming defence masterclass "Protecting the Blue Economy Through Maritime Surveillance Technologies" taking place on 6th December 2016 in London.

London, United Kingdom, September 14, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Over 90% of global trade is conducted on the world’s oceans. To ensure this ‘Blue Economy’ is kept safe from a variety of threats such as piracy; governments, militaries and, increasingly, commercial operators are looking to a whole range of Maritime ISR technologies. In particular space-based surveillance has become a huge factor in how we monitor our seas.

With the constant evolution of technology, it is crucial that maritime surveillance is kept up to date. This masterclass will consider how the military and commercial sectors need to work together more and more to protect their interests at sea, particularly as new technologies, especially those in space begin to emerge.

To register, visit the event website www.smi-online.co.uk/2016maritime-surveillance-tech.asp or contact James Hitchen on +44 20 7827 6054 or email jhitchen@smi-online.co.uk

This masterclass will be hosted by Rear Admiral (ret’d) Nick Lambert, Director and Jonathan Turner, Associate from Nick Lambert Associates Ltd.

A master mariner and a committed proponent of the maritime users’ perspective, Rear Admiral (ret'd) Nick Lambert concluded a long naval operational career as the UK National Hydrographer in December 2012. He advises on a wide range of maritime issues including the growing potential of the blue economy concept, the importance of spatial data infrastructures and hydrography for maritime economies, the evolution of eNavigation and GNSS vulnerability, near or real time situational awareness (especially that derived from space based assets and applications), human factors, and training and education in the maritime sector.

Associate, Jonathan Turner's deep knowledge of industry trends and lifecycles enables the development of future proofing strategies and the transposition of ideas to support the long term growth of companies and organisations. With a passion for evolution at pace he engages with those involved inspiring them to collaborate and develop solutions. Jonathan generates focus through the creation of management information extracted from the organisation’s, often untapped, business datasets. Combining experience of operational leadership with business transformation skills he develops new operating models, structures, processes and measures of performance to generate sustainable bottom line benefit and create a culture of transparent continuous improvement.

With their extensive knowledge of maritime issues, they will pose as the perfect hosts for this masterclass and will ensure optimal learning for attendees.
