Savvy Ladies Announces 11th Annual Gala Honorees: Citi’s Suni Harford and MSNBC’s Stephanie Ruhle

New York, NY, September 26, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Savvy Ladies, a non-profit organization providing personal finance education and resources for women to help them plan for the future, will honor Suni Harford and Stephanie Ruhle at the 11th Annual Savvy Ladies Benefit Gala. The Gala will be held on Thursday, October 20th at the famed Nasdaq MarketSite in New York City’s Times Square.

This year’s theme is “Economic Empowerment: Igniting the full potential of women.” According to the Bank of Montreal’s Wealth Institute, more than half (51%) of personal wealth in the United States is controlled by women, and this percentage is only expected to grow.

Suni Harford, Citi's regional head of markets for North America, will receive the Sayra Fischer Lebenthal Award for Professional Excellence in Finance, named in honor of one of the first women of Wall Street. Sayra Fischer Lebenthal co-founded Lebenthal & Company with her husband Louis in 1925.

Suni oversees the North American sales, trading, and origination businesses of Citi’s securities and banking franchise. She is a member of Citi’s Pension Plan Investment Committee and a Director on the Board of Citibank Canada. From 2010 to 2015, Suni was the co-head of Citi’s global women’s initiative, Citi Women. She serves on the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Veteran’s Employment Advisory Council and represents Citi as a founding member of Veterans on Wall Street, a coalition of major financial services firms established to engage the broader industry to support transitioning veterans.

Stephanie Ruhle, MSNBC anchor and co-anchor of “Weekend Today” on NBC, will receive the Savvy Ladies Change Maker of the Year Award, given to an individual who has made a significant difference in the financial lives of women.

Prior to joining MSNBC, Stephanie was managing editor and news anchor for Bloomberg Television and editor-at-large for Bloomberg News. Previously she served as a vice president at Credit Suisse and a managing director at Deutsche Bank. She founded Deutsche Bank's Corporate Investment Bank (CIB) Women's Network and co-chaired the Women on Wall Street (WOWS) steering committee. Ruhle is also a member of the board of trustees for Girls Inc. New York.

Jean Chatzky, financial editor of NBC’s “Today Show” will serve as Master of Ceremonies.

“We are excited to honor Suni and Stephanie and celebrate their exceptional careers in finance,” said Stacy Francis, founder and CEO of Savvy Ladies. “Both women have been champions of women’s financial and professional empowerment.”

The 11th Annual Savvy Ladies Benefit Gala will be sponsored by Citi. Additional sponsors include City National Bank and Don Julio.
