See 42 Years of Excellence in Miniature

The 42nd Annual Show of the Military Miniature Society of Illinois (MMSI) will feature hundreds of painted figures, vehicles, aircraft, ships dioramas, vignettes and more from all eras of history along with fiction and fantasy.

Schaumburg, IL, September 30, 2016 --(PR.com)-- The Military Miniature Society of Illinois presents the 42nd Annual Chicago Show on Saturday, October 22, 2016, featuring hundreds of miniature figures, vignettes, and dioramas. The show and judged exhibition will be held in the Chicago Marriott-Schaumburg, at 50 Martingale Road in Schaumburg, IL. The show is open to the public from 9:00AM to 5:00PM on Saturday. Adult admission is $10 per person, and free admission for children under 12.

The Chicago Show is one of the top-level exhibitions of painted miniature figures in the world, What you will see at the Chicago Show are stunning examples of the broad and diverse art form of realistic sculpted and painted miniature figures. These miniatures range in size from under one inch to over 12 inches high and represent all historical periods from ancient to modern times, as well as science fiction and fantasy subjects. Knights in armor, the Civil War, WWII, the Napoleonic era, as well as the Renaissance and Victorian periods and Tolkien's "Middle Earth" all have been represented in previous shows. The competition is at several levels from hobbyist amateur through professional artist. The figures may be painted from commercially available kits, conversions, or original sculptures.

In addition to the exhibition itself, the 2016 Chicago Show also features:

∙ An auction of finely painted miniatures will begin at 1:30PM on Saturday.

∙ Seminars, which are free and open to the public, will be presented Saturday and Sunday on topics relevant to the art of creating military miniatures and on historical subjects.

∙ Art, memorabilia, miniature figure kits and artist supplies also can be found in a vendor area featuring specialty sellers from around the country.

About the Military Miniature Society of Illinois:

The MMSI is a an organization based in the Chicago area dedicated to the art of painting and sculpting military miniatures, toy soldiers and other figures as well as collecting these scale works of military and fantasy art. They hold a show which is a juried exhibition each year in October. There are also monthly meetings that deal with a wide variety of subjects held on the first first Friday of the month, except for a break during the summer. They do host summer get-togethers at breakfast on Mondays or Fridays as well as an annual Holiday party in December They publish a quarterly journal called The Scabbard that includes articles on history, uniforms, miniatures and much more about the art and technique of creating miniature figures and dioramas of all type, sent to all members of the society.
