United States Power Squadrons Digital Media Library Debuts Steering Basics Video

The United States Power Squadrons (USPS) is now premiering the new “Steering Basics” streaming media video in its Digital Media Library (DML).

Raleigh, NC, November 05, 2016 --(PR.com)-- The United States Power Squadrons (USPS) announces the debut of its streaming media video focused on steering basics in its Digital Media Library (DML) online at www.uspsdml.org and as a free mobile app.

The new “Steering Basics” video shows viewers how to maintain directional control at minimum speed keeping their boats on a predetermined course for a distance of at least five boat lengths.

Viewers will also learn how to maintain a proper lookout by performing frequent 360-degree visual checks and identifying potential hazards.

Also featured are special tips such as how to use fixed points including shore landmarks or navigation markers or buoys to serve as target destinations and how to avoid oversteering.

Along with the new video, the USPS DML is adding a related boater education slideshow on Mariner’s Compass as well as several new safe boating images.

The USPS DML is also distributing its “Steering Basics” video through popular social media including Facebook and YouTube. All digital media in the library is offered at no charge.

The USPS Digital Media Library is produced under a grant from the Sport Fish Restoration and Boating Trust Fund administered by the US Coast Guard.

The United States Power Squadrons is the premier boating organization dedicated to “Safe Boating through Education” since 1914.

The USPS DML has as its partner BoatUS and is cosponsored by Discover Boating with a contribution from Weems & Plath.
