#ServingHopeLV Completes Their First Backpack Drive for Title I Elementary School with Success

#ServingHopeLV, an organization dedicated to ending poverty and homelessness in Las Vegas, presented over 950 backpacks stuffed with school supplies and hygiene supplies to students at Title I elementary school in a surprise assembly.

Las Vegas, NV, November 30, 2016 --(PR.com)-- #ServingHopeLV completed their first backpack drive for Title I school Oran K. Gragson Elementary School with overwhelming success. Thanks to dedicated volunteers and business partners around the Vegas Valley, all of whom are united in their mission to end hunger and the impacts of poverty in the Las Vegas community, #ServingHopeLV was able to provide all 950 students with brand-new backpacks, each of which was stuffed with school supplies and hygiene kits.

Siloh Moses, the founder of #ServingHopeLV, says, "When Oran K. Gragson reached out to us after seeing the work that we were doing with the homeless population in Las Vegas, we were immediately moved. 100 percent of the students at Oran K. Gragson Elementary School are enrolled in the free lunch program, and many of them are homeless or at-risk." #ServingHopeLV worked hard over the months following that call to collect the necessary supplies: backpacks, erasers, highlighters, notebooks, folders, and more.

In a surprise assembly put on by the school, #ServingHope volunteers were able to give the school-and-hygiene-supply-stuffed backpacks to each of over 1,050 students, ranging from pre-K to fifth grade. School administrators voiced their enthusiasm that their students would be able to complete their homework at home, since many of their students did not have the supplies to do their homework.

Moses adds, "We were so honored to be able to give these students the school supplies that they need to find their own success later in life. We hope that Oran K. Gragson is just a start for us and that, by next school year, we will be able to provide to other schools that are similarly at risk. #ServingHopeLV is just getting started with our efforts to fight homelessness and poverty in Las Vegas."

#ServingHopeLV

#ServingHopeLV is a completely independent grassroots community give-back organization dedicated to eliminating homelessness and poverty in the Vegas Valley through giftivism—genuine acts of kindness so radical that they spark change in not just ourselves, but the world, as well. Last year, alone, #ServingHopeLV gave away 64,000 individual meals to those who couldn't afford one, had over 5,000 volunteers join them in their cause, and saved 100 lives from homelessness by placing them into permanent housing.
