Care for Friends Receives Toiletry Kits for Chicago’s Underserved

Nonprofit partners with law firm to serve Chicago’s Homeless.

Chicago, IL, November 29, 2016 --(PR.com)-- In celebration of #GivingTuesday, Care For Friends, with assistance from Sidley Austin LLP, will provide toiletry kits to some of Chicago’s most underserved residents. Kits will be distributed as part of Care For Friends’ “Toiletries for Friends” program, through which guests of the organization receive basic items such as shampoo, toothpaste, shaving items and skin lotion to help protect against the coming Chicago winter cold.

“Our guests always appreciate the opportunity to have these basic human needs provided for,” said Gary Kenzer, Care For Friends’ Executive Director. “We know that these kits will be in special demand, particularly as winter approaches.”

A number of lawyers at Sidley obtained toiletries and assembled them into approximately 200 toiletry kits to provide to Care For Friends for distribution to Chicago’s most underserved residents. They will be distributed during Care For Friends’ Monday, Thursday, and Saturday meal programs throughout the year.

“#GivingTuesday is a perfect time to further demonstrate our commitment to the Chicago community,” said Annie Wallis, partner in the Global Finance Group at Sidley Austin LLP. “We are delighted for opportunities like this one to make manifest that commitment in a tangible way, which we hope can help to meet some of the most basic needs of the homeless.”
