Rain Bird Gives Back by Helping to Create the Lois Marrero Memorial Garden

Rain Bird is proud to support of the Tampa Police Department in creating the Lois Marrero Memorial Garden, opened October 11, 2016.

Azusa, CA, December 02, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Supporting our communities has been a part of the Rain Bird for the past 83 years. Thank you Julie Zigler for your dedication and support of the Tampa Police Department in creating the Lois Marrero Memorial Garden. After much planning, designing and hard work by volunteers and sponsors, the dedication ceremony was held on October 11th, 2016.

For 18 years, Officer Lois Marrero worked tirelessly to keep the City of Tampa safe. On July 6, 2001, she made the ultimate sacrifice as she chased down an armed bank robber, and was mortally wounded. Days later, Lois’ squad mates planted a magnolia tree at the District One Office in her honor, and as a living testament of her life, which has evolved into the memorial garden.

For the past two years, Julie Zigler, Rain Bird-ASM worked with fellow landscape architects to create a haven that will serve as both a place for quiet contemplation and a celebration of Lois’s life. The irrigation design and products were donated by Rain Bird and included efficient, water saving technologies.

In the end, this beautiful memorial garden could not have been accomplished without the sponsors and volunteers who stepped up to make it a reality. This memorial garden embodies the integrity and compassion Officer Lois Marrero showed to not only those she knew, and also the nameless, faceless many she did not know, but was proud to protect and serve. She will never be forgotten. At Rain Bird, we are proud to be a part of this wonderful project.
