Theresa Nichols Named Boys and Girls Club of Marshfield’s "Volunteer of the Month"

Kudos to Marshfield resident Theresa Nichols, who was named January’s “Volunteer of the Month” by the Boys and Girls Club of Marshfield.

Marshfield, MA, January 31, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Ms. Nichols, whose daughter Clara is a member of the club, heard that the boys and girls of the club wanted to participate in the Marshfield Community Christmas Telethon. Since there wasn’t anyone on the club’s staff with a strong musical background, Ms. Nichols immediately volunteered to work with approximately 20 children ranging in age from 6-14 and preparing them for their live performance on the telethon.

The kids had a great time performing while learning a valuable lesson in helping others in their community.

“Theresa stepped up to donate her time and talents to help members of the club and the Marshfield community as well. Theresa offers us the perfect example of how a few hours of one’s time can make such a difference in so many peoples’ lives,” said Greg Jackson, the club’s Executive Director.

Call for Volunteers
As a non-profit organization, volunteers are always welcomed at the Boys and Girls Club of Marshfield. Many types of volunteers are needed, but the greatest need is for help with special events such as golf outings and black tie affairs where promotion, set up, clean up, prize procurement and telephoning to ensure participation is key. Specialized volunteers are needed to help lead the nutrition and healthy habits programs for the children.

Volunteers who can play sports, do arts and crafts or help children with homework are vital to the organization. For those interested in keeping the club up and running smoothly, office and computer skilled volunteers as well as Administrative, Human Resources and Development volunteers are needed.

More information and volunteer applications are available on the Boys and Girls Club of Marshfield website. Visit www.marshfieldboysandgirlsclub.com.
