)-- Super Lawyers, a Thomson Reuters rating service that evaluates attorneys on 12 separate indicators of peer recognition and professional achievement, has chosen attorney Richard Gordon as a “Rising Star” for 2017. This is Gordon’s ninth consecutive appearance on the list.
Richard Gordon is the owner and managing partner of Gordon Law Offices, a Chicago law firm that focuses on workers’ compensation and personal injury lawsuits. Gordon specializes in representing professional athletes in sports injury litigation and routinely represents players in the NFL, NHL, MLB, MLS, WNBA and Arena Football. A 2002 graduate of Loyola University Chicago School of Law, Gordon began his career by representing insurance companies against accident victims in state and federal courts; he later transferred this experience to helping instead preserve the dignity and rights of injured individuals.
The Super Lawyers rating system reviews attorneys from more than 70 practice areas, using peer nominations, evaluations, and independent research to choose those lawyers that are most successful and recognized in their field. The list is meant to serve as an aid for those choosing a lawyer and looks at 12 different indicators of achievement, including verdicts, experience, honors and awards, and professional activity.
Once an attorney has been selected as a Super Lawyer, he or she is eligible for the Rising Stars list, which recognizes high-achieving attorneys who are 40 years old or younger or who have been in practice 10 years or less. According to Super Lawyers, only 2.5% of attorneys are selected as Rising Stars.
