Eric LeGrand Partners with Athletes Brand in Campaign to Benefit the Reeve Foundation

Former Rutgers University football player designs T-shirt to raise proceeds for and awareness of spinal cord injuries (SCI). LeGrand was paralyzed during a football game in 2010 and has since served as an ambassador for SCI as he strives to one day walk again.

Scottsdale, AZ, January 19, 2017 --(PR.com)-- Former Rutgers University football player and current national inspiration, Eric LeGrand, is partnering with Athletes Brand on a limited-time only T-shirt benefitting the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation. In 2010, LeGrand suffered a severe spinal injury during a college football game, leaving him paralyzed. In the years following his injury, LeGrand has served as an ambassador of hope and inspiration internationally. Proceeds from sales of his “bELieve" shirt will go toward initiatives dedicated to improving the lives of those with paralysis.

Beginning today, the shirt will be available for two weeks and can be ordered online via AthletesBrand.com. The tri-blend “bELieve” shirt will be available in Men’s and Youth T-shirt options, as well as in a Women’s V-neck T-shirt fashion. In addition to purchasing a shirt, fans and supporters can show their support for Eric and his mission to walk again by using the hashtag #bELieve on social media.

The shirt was co-designed by LeGrand to pay tribute to his love of football and his goal of walking again. The design features a football with the word “bELieve” – Eric’s rallying call and his initials – subtly included where the laces on a football normally appear.

“Whenever I tire during rehab or the mountain looks too high, I remind myself of this singular goal that drives me - believe. Someday, when I can walk again, I want to visit the spot on the Giants Stadium field where I went down. I want to lie on the artificial turf one more time and take a deep breath. Then I'm going to pull myself up to my own feet under my own power and walk away. Believe it will happen, because I do,” Legrand said.

Athletes Brand and LeGrand believe that his campaign will go a long way toward making a difference for the Reeve Foundation and expanding its overall reach.

“Cause awareness is key for charities of all sizes,” said Kyle Mauch, CEO and Founder of Athletes Brand. “Our goal with this campaign isn’t just to raise money and walk away. We want to raise awareness of what the Reeve Foundation does for those living with spinal cord injuries in hopes of connecting with individuals on a deeper level so that they want to get involved with the cause for years to come. One person connecting with the cause long-term is far more valuable than a huge donation. Both are certainly greatly appreciated, but awareness keeps the conversation going and can make an immeasurable difference.”

The shirt can be purchased from Athletes Brand beginning today, Monday, January 16th, and will only be available until Monday, January 30th. Proceeds from each purchase will help fund research efforts, care and treatment for those afflicted, and other quality of life initiatives that are provided by the Reeve Foundation. Through this campaign, Athletes Brand hopes to put the Reeve Foundation in front of 20 million during the two-week sale. For more information about LeGrand’s campaign, visit AthletesBrand.com.
