Tangible IP Announces Completed Sale of Audio & Video Content Search System Portfolio

Tangible IP announced that it has successfully brokered the sale of the patent portfolio of inventor Robert Davidson around audio and video content search. The identity of the buyer and the financials of the agreement were not disclosed.

Seattle, WA, February 23, 2017 --(PR.com)-- Tangible IP, an international patent brokerage and Intellectual Property advisory firm headquartered in Seattle, with offices in San Francisco and Montreal, announced that it has successfully brokered the sale of the patent portfolio of inventor Robert Davidson in the audio and video content search technology arena. The identity of the buyer and the financials of the agreement were not disclosed.

Mr. Davidson, a seasoned technologist, designed a way to search through content, from various sources of media content providers, without switching from one service to another. Nowadays, when most people use their TVs to consume content coming from competing platforms (e.g. cable, streaming devices, internet, etc.) it is important to have a single point of contact to rapidly identify the media sources and compare offers, just as an internet search would yield. Mr. Davidson identified and developed this invention.

Mr. Davidson developed this idea and related technology as early as 2004 and it took a good decade before the industry finally caught up. Integrated search is now becoming a coveted feature in many TV offerings.

“As an individual inventor, my passion is really about finding innovative solutions to known problems, not necessarily building a new business,” said Mr. Davidson. “When the time came to monetize my patents, I asked around and was immediately referred to Tangible IP as the leading patent brokerage firm, as they have a great and consistent track record over the years of closing transactions even in very tight market conditions for patent owners. Having prosecuted my own patents, I have a good appreciation for expertise in this field and I was extremely impressed by the strength and technical rigor of the Tangible IP team. They understood exactly what my invention did (and did not) cover and prepared a very compelling set of marketing and technical materials for buyers. During the sale process, I was kept apprised of any development and could see how the firm was pushing hard to secure the very best price for my patents. Once there was a verbal agreement with the buyer, everything continued smoothly and we closed everything in less than two weeks. I would recommend Tangible IP without hesitation to those who want to monetize their IP assets and are seeking the best in the trade to represent them.”

“We always take pride in helping genuine inventors like Mr. Davidson monetize their great ideas,” said Louis Carbonneau, Founder and CEO of Tangible IP. “This is another great example of how individuals who tinker to find solutions to everyday problems often discover the best inventions while it takes years for the industry to finally catch up. Without their pioneering work, we might have had to wait even longer to see these innovations become mainstream. We feel gratified that we could find a good home for these patents while proving to individuals like Mr. Davidson that protecting their ideas is still worth the investment.”

Tangible IP, LLC specializes in selling high-quality unencumbered patents and has now brokered the sale of over 2000 patent assets since its inception and has returned tens of millions of dollars back to inventors, shareholders and patent owners.
