Youth for Tomorrow Participants Get Makeover from Caitlin's Closet

Washington, DC, February 06, 2008 --(PR.com)-- On Valentine’s Day, 32 at-risk teens will be honored for their participation in the Youth for Tomorrow program at the annual Sweetheart Ball and will receive a special occasion dress from Caitlin’s Closet to wear to the event.

Founded by Joe Gibbs, a prominent civic leader and NFL Hall of Fame Head Coach of the Washington Redskins, Youth For Tomorrow is committed to providing a safe, healthy, and compassionate environment for at-risk youth who have been abandoned, abused, or otherwise alienated from family and community. The mission is to provide the opportunity and motivation to focus their lives and develop the confidence, skills, intellectual ability, spiritual insight and moral integrity to become responsible and productive members of society.

Participants from the Youth for Tomorrow program are teaming up with Caitlin Brunell, the 15-year-old daughter of NFL player Mark Brunell and founder of Caitlin’s Closet, and will receive a party dress for the event. Caitlin’s Closet is a non-profit organization that collects gently used special occasion dresses and distributes them to prom-hopefuls and party-goers.

Caitlin’s Closet was founded in 2006. “I wanted to do something to help other teens,” Caitlin says. “I realized that every girl should be able to attend school events and feel good about herself, and I thought I might be able to help make that happen.” Since its founding, Caitlin’s Closet has collected nearly 1,000 prom gowns and special occasion dresses.

Caitlin is the current Miss America’s Outstanding Teen, representing the Commonwealth of Virginia. She won more than $30,000 in college scholarships at the Miss America’s Outstanding Teen competition in Orlando, Florida in August 2007. The “little sister” pageant to the Miss America Scholarship Organization, this not-for-profit program has provided more than $2 million in college scholarships nationally to young women from 13 to 17 years of age. The title has given Caitlin a nationwide vehicle to promote Caitlin’s Closet.

The Youth for Tomorrow Sweetheart Ball takes place on Thursday, February 14, at the Ritz Carlton at Tyson’s Corner. Master of Ceremonies for the event is Joe Theismann. Caitlin Brunell will also serve as a celebrity judge during the “Dancing with the Stars” competition associated with the gala.
