The Fans Across America® Charitable Foundation Helps Its First Two Families with Seriously Ill Children
With the support of their community members and a variety of other organizations, the Fans Across America Charitable Foundation has provided much needed financial assistance to the Rodriguez and Coppoth families to help with some "life" expenses while their children were undergoing treatment for malignant brain tumors.
Phoenix, AZ, February 08, 2008 --(PR.com)-- The Fans Across America® Charitable Foundation, a 501 (c) (3) tax-exempt organization, is pleased to announce that they have assisted their first two families with seriously ill children. With the support of their community members and a variety of other organizations, Fans Across America has provided much needed financial assistance to the Rodriguez and Coppoth families to help with some "life" expenses while their children were undergoing treatment for malignant brain tumors.
"Without the support of charitable foundations such as Fans Across America, families with seriously ill children would fall into a financial abyss. What once may have been a "normal life" ends with diagnosis. Parents often have to take extended, unpaid leaves from their employment to be with their children during long hospitalizations and months of complicated treatments," said Gina DeGraw, social worker at Phoenix Children's Hospital. "The Fans Across America Charitable Foundation helps remove a significant portion of this financial burden, freeing families to focus on their child's health and well-being."

It's about a community coming together to pool resources, ranging from time to used gift cards to financial contributions, in order to provide much needed assistance to families with seriously ill children," said Founder Bruce Petillo. First Families
Because of the generosity of the Fans Across America community and other contributors, the Foundation was able to help relieve some of the financial burden the Rodriguez and Coppoth families faced as a result of their child's illness by assisting with their rent and other living expenses such as food and gas. The following is an overview of the children and families helped by Fans Across America.
Leslie Rodriguez (9)
Referred to Fans Across America by their Charity Partner Phoenix Children's Hospital, Leslie Rodriguez is a lovely and intelligent nine-year-old girl who was diagnosed on September 6, 2007 with a brain tumor (Germinoma). To date, she has undergone surgery and four courses of chemotherapy. She has completed her final round of chemotherapy and is now preparing for radiation treatment. Her prognosis is very good and the tumor has responded exceedingly well to therapy thus far. Leslie lives with her mother, Patricia, and an older sister and brother.

Joshua Coppoth (9)
Joshua Coppoth is a nine-year-old boy who has Medulloblastoma, a malignant brain tumor. He was hospitalized and underwent surgery to remove the tumor along with radiation treatment. Joshua is now home and enduring chemotherapy treatment, which will last until May 2008. Unfortunately, Joshua is already showing significant side affects from the treatments, including irreversible hearing loss. His mother Diana has had to leave her job to ensure Joshua receives all the medical and rehabilitative treatment he needs to beat the Medulloblastoma; otherwise, it could take him well over a year to recover physically from the chemotherapy.
"It takes a lot of individuals to support and keep Fans Across America going. I am aware it is not always easy, but their love and support has given us help at a time when even a mother's strength can start to give out. Thank you all so very much," said Diana Coppoth, Joshua's mom.
