MEDC Invites Marlborough Employers to Attend Free Job Fair

Organizers, city urges Marlborough employers to register for Spring Job Fair.

Marlborough, MA, April 22, 2017 --(PR.com)-- The Marlborough Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) is urging local employers, who are looking to fill entry- and mid-level positions, to register for the upcoming “Marlborough Works!” Spring Job Fair and get the opportunity to connect with hundreds of jobseekers.

The job fair, organized in conjunction with the City of Marlborough, is scheduled to take place on May 11, 2017 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Courtyard Marriott in Marlborough.

So far, over a dozen companies and more than 65 jobseekers have registered to attend the event. Registration is free for both employers and jobseekers.

Marlborough employers across all industries are invited to register for the “Marlborough Works!” Spring Job Fair by emailing Linda Martins at lmartins@marlboroughedc.com, or calling the MEDC office at 508-229-2010. The event is open to Marlborough-based businesses only. Space is limited and companies will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis.

“At 3.6 percent, Marlborough’s unemployment rate is still significantly lower than that of the state and the rest of the country, but we want to continue driving it down,” said Mayor Arthur Vigeant. “We created this job fair, in order to help our local employers, who are looking to fill entry-level jobs, meet the community members, who are looking for those jobs. We wanted to give companies, especially those specializing in manufacturing, trades, retail and hospitality, a free platform where they could advertise their available positions directly to their target audience. So, I urge those companies to take advantage of this opportunity.”

“The ‘Marlborough Works!’ Spring Job Fair is a great opportunity for employers to meet face-to-face with a large number of applicants in one place at one time,” said MEDC Executive Director, Meredith Harris. “Employers spend a lot of time and money advertising for open positions, going through résumés, and conducting interviews, but this job fair is free and it helps them go directly to step three of the process. We’ve had excellent results with placing people at local companies through our past job fairs, and I am certain this one will be no exception.”

Jobseekers are also welcome to register through the job fair's dedicated webpage. Those who bring their pre-registration forms to the event will be entered into a draw to win gift certificates to Marlborough restaurants.
