Sikhcess™ Global ‘Feed the Homeless’ Campaign Launches in Birmingham

Birmingham, United Kingdom, February 11, 2008 --(PR.com)-- On Saturday 1 March 2008, a group of over 60 volunteers will prepare and distribute over 2000 food packages to local homeless shelters and community centres marking the first UK ‘Feed the Homeless’ campaign, a global initiative supported by members of the Sikh community. Volunteers involved in the project have come together from various walks of life and include teachers, community leaders and even ex gang members.

The ‘Feed the Homeless’ campaign was started in Canada by the community support organisation ‘Sikhcess’ just 12 months ago, and has since been rolled out throughout the USA. On 17 November 2007, volunteers throughout North America successfully distributed nearly 50,000 individual food packages to the homeless and disadvantaged in just one night. On Saturday March 1 2008, for the first time, this project is being extended worldwide by volunteers across the UK, US, Australia, Singapore, and Malaysia.

“‘Feed the Homeless’ has been a massive success in America and Canada, and I’m delighted to be involved in starting this worthwhile campaign in the UK,” comments Miss Manni Kaur, Sikhcess National Coordinator for UK, “We appreciate that the needs of those disadvantaged in our community are going to differ from those in Canada and the USA. This campaign is the first step in allowing us to identify those needs, so that we, Sikhcess, can make a positive impact on a much bigger scale in the future.”

Food packages will be prepared at Second City Spice Corner in Digbeth and will be distributed to various shelters and centres by volunteers throughout the day.

All members of Birmingham’s community are being encouraged to support this campaign, regardless of age, or religious and political views. To find out how to get involved visit:

About the Sikhcess™ ‘Feed the Homeless’ Campaign

The Sikhcess™ ‘Feed the Homeless’ campaign began in January 2007 in Vancouver, Canada. The campaign’s initial goal was to distribute 15,000 food packages to Vancouver’s homeless population within 12 months. Eventually, North America’s entire Sikh community rallied behind the program, distributing more than 70,000 food packages throughout numerous cities across the United States and Canada in only 11 months.

Through the efforts of this campaign, food packages have been delivered to homeless communities in: Vancouver, BC; Surrey, BC; Toronto, ONT; New York, NY; Detroit, MI; Chicago, IL; Los Angeles, CA; Cincinnati, OH; Boston, MA; Newark, NJ; San Francisco, CA; Oakland, CA; San Jose, CA; Washington, D.C.; Baltimore, MD; Fairfax, VA; Houston, TX; Atlanta, GA; Cleveland, OH; Oklahoma City, OK; Tulsa, OK; and Miami, FL.

Every month, the homeless and needy receive thousands of food packages generously donated by the entire Sikh community. In exchange, Sikhcess™ volunteers receive countless hugs, smiles and a heart-felt “thank you”, many times over. Sikhcess™ thanks all those who contribute to the ‘Feed the Homeless’ campaign with their charitable support of time, effort, food, and kitchen facilities.

Inquiries for donations of food and supplies to the homeless should be directed to Info@Sikhcess.com or to Mr. Amit Singh at +1-248-990-1245.
