Using an expert team of consultants and trainers the SBDC is providing free training and counseling to teach small businesses, first-hand, the Caltrans bid and RFP process utilizing Caltrans' "Construction Site Best Management Practices Manual".

The training and counseling are designed to provide small businesses the necessary understanding of the requirements and tools needed to successfully navigate the bid and RFP process as well as tips for partnering, winning and executing strong management plans.

The SBDC is offering free one-on-one Business Management Counseling designed to help small businesses obtain Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) certification and assist small businesses in the development and improvement of long term business management, record keeping and financial accounting capabilities required for contracting opportunities. The SBDC will also offer free courses giving small businesses the necessary understanding of the requirements and tools needed to successfully navigate the bid and RFP process, including tips for partnering, winning and executing a strong management plan. A total of fifteen courses will be offered between January and August 2008.

The next three courses addressing Construction law, Cost control and Labor compliance are scheduled for March 17, 2008 (9:00 AM – 4:00 PM) and March 18, 2008 (9:00 AM – 12:00 PM) at Point Loma Nazarene University – Room 207, 4007 Camino del Rio South, San Diego, CA 92108.
