ICT Oil and Gas Summit 2008

Delivering improved networking capabilities and communications to enhance business performance through reliable and secure technology.

Dubai, United Kingdom, February 14, 2008 --(PR.com)-- The role of ICT in the oil and gas industry has been growing in the past years like never before. In order to facilitate the increasing flow of information needed for critical business decisions, the communications network has to be reliable, flexible, efficient and fast.

In response, various new technologies have been launched, making it more difficult for ICT professionals to know what would fit with their production set up, when the costs of change are important and the number of case studies apparently limited.

This is the reason why IQPC has decided to organize an event tailor made for ICT professionals, providing them with exclusive case studies and presentations from around the world.

The international summit is taking place 30 March – 2 April 2008 at the Millennium Hotel, Abu Dhabi, UAE. The conference is chaired on March 31st by Paal Bang, Project manager from EDS Norway who will later in the morning discuss the pilot installation of Wimax 802.16 in the North Sea initiated by the Norwegian Oil Industry Association.

Presentation highlights include Saad Al-Marie, Head Manager of Assured Services at Saudi Arabian Chevron, who will be presenting the results of 3 years of implementation of Wimax in Kuwait. While Tero Pesonen, Business Programme Manager at EADS Secure Networks will explain the in and outs of the deployment of Tetra over 1000km of pipeline for Saudi Aramco.

The high-level program also features key representatives from OGDCL Pakistan, Shell Hazira, Saudi Aramco, Al Khafji Joint Operations, Apco Sudan, Tullow Pakistan and more, delivering practical case studies and presentations.

A highlight of this summit is two days of topic focused and solution finding workshops that cover such critical issues as Voice-Date convergence, networking between fixed and mobile units at sea, and the viability of Wimax in fixed and mobile formats.
