Victoria, Canada, February 14, 2008 --(PR.com
)-- Etraffic Solutions has been named as a finalist in the Capital Regional District EcoStar Community Environmental Awards. This award recognizes Etraffic’s innovative new publishing strategy, as seen in its premier Pilot Math program (www.pilotmath.com). The Etraffic approach makes a small change to the way publishers provide resources to schools, allowing the individual schools to see dramatic changes in their carbon footprint in their own communities. These simple changes at the school level in communities significantly help the province of British Columbia, which has launched an aggressive campaign to reduce the carbon footprint of the province, and reach the goal of decreasing significantly the Province’s greenhouse gas emissions.
The Etraffic Press publishing model allows schools to reduce the number of physical textbooks needed—by as much as 50-70%. This new approach to textbook publishing can reduce the entire province’s total carbon footprint by 5680 tonnes of CO₂. This publishing model is another example of how businesses in the Victoria Capital Region are taking positive steps to create a sustainable environment.
The EcoStar Community Environmental Awards recognize companies in the Capital Region that take action to help sustain our natural environment and improve the quality of life in the Capital Region.
