KIB Hits a Home Run with “Irving Day” at the AirHogs Stadium

Irving, TX, June 22, 2017 --(PR.com)-- Friday, June 9, was “Irving Day” at the Texas AirHogs Stadium in Grand Prairie, where $3.00 of every ticket purchased using the code IRVING went to support Keep Irving Beautiful (KIB) programs. KIB and AirHogs staff worked for several weeks prior to the event, which was also promoted by the City’s Communications Department to encourage Irvingites to come to the ball park. City Manager Chris Hillman threw out the first pitch, and both KIB and the City of Irving Drainage Program staff had tables set up near the entrance to talk with attendees about litter prevention, beautification projects and recycling. KIB also provided recycling stations throughout the stadium with signs proclaiming the game to be an “official green event.” One container was even featured during a race around the bases between the AirHogs’ mascot “Scout” and a young fan. The ICTN-produced Public Service Announcement with the theme “We only have one Planet. Don’t Trash It” also ran between innings to encourage everyone to not litter and to put trash in its proper receptacle.

KIB Board member and baseball fan Karen Harmon, who attended the event with her son Dillon, said, “This was a great family-friendly event that helped showcase our city. We had a large group from North Lake College attending their first baseball game, as well as church groups and many city employees who came out to support our community.”
