Progressive U Announces Fall 2007 Blogging for Progress Scholarship Winners

The Spring 2007 ProgressiveU.org Blogging for Progress Scholarship winners are Navamon Aunaetitrakul of New York, Katie Wickswat of New York and Lance Kates of Oklahoma.

San Mateo, CA, February 16, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Progressive U, a student-run social welfare organization that encourages an open discussion of current events, progressive values, and public policy priorities, is pleased to announce that the Fall 2007 Blogging for Progress scholarship winners are Navamon May Aunaetitrakul of Manhasset, NY, Katie Wickswat of Rexford, NY, and Lance Kates of Oklahoma City.

To date, Progressive U has awarded thousands of dollars towards higher education to outstanding students, in addition to becoming home to nearly 40,000 student bloggers and 250,000 guests each month. Students from around the country write and maintain blogs that have been picked up by the news media, public policy, and social welfare organizations around the world.

We have bloggers from all parts of the country, from urban areas and rural areas, and from a broad range of religious and ethnic backgrounds. Navamon May Aunaetitrakul is a resident of Manhasset, New York, and attends Mount Holyoke College where she majors in psychology and minors in economics. Her career goals include becoming a psychiatrist and performing humanitarian work. Navamon won the $1,000 first place scholarship after capturing the attention of thousands with insightful and discussion-generating commentary on social issues facing both students and parents around the world.

Katie Wickswat, the first $500 scholarship winner, is a senior at Clarkson University in New York where she is studying towards her undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering. Katie’s plans to continue her education by pursing a Masters of Engineering in nuclear engineering and would love to work in the nuclear space propulsion field.

Lance Kates, the final $500 scholarship winner for the term, resides in Oklahoma City and attends Western Governors University. Lances’ educational and career goals include obtaining a license to teach high school mathematics, where he hopes to inspire future generations to succeed.
