Keep Irving Beautiful Visits West Irving Library - Non-Profit Organization Promotes Litter-Free Public Spaces

Irving, TX, July 20, 2017 --( On Wednesday, July 12, Keep Irving Beautiful (KIB) staff visited the West Library to promote clean, litter-free public spaces. They set up a table with information on KIB programs, and spoke with library patrons about ways they can help keep our city clean and green. Among the giveaway items were car litter bags, which they encouraged visitors to use to help prevent roadside litter, as well as pens and coloring books for the children.

KIB staff began their library visits last summer at the South Library in August, followed by the West and Valley Ranch branches in December and April. This is their third time to visit the West Library, where in addition to having the information table, they performed their environmental mascot skit for the children’s group during Spring Break, with the help of several staff members.

“Libraries are a great location for us to talk to people about what KIB does, and what they can do to help our community,” said KIB staff member Julie Schmitt. “We meet a wide variety of people of all ages and backgrounds who are genuinely interested in volunteering and helping to keep Irving clean and as litter-free as possible.”

Keep Irving Beautiful is a non-profit, grassroots, leadership organization dedicated to educating our community about litter abatement, recycling, and beautification to help preserve the health and promote the social and economic prosperity of our city. As an award-winning affiliate of Keep America Beautiful and Keep Texas Beautiful, Keep Irving Beautiful reaches out to all sectors of our city including government, business, church, cultural, educational, neighborhood and civic organizations. If you are interested in volunteering with KIB, or making your activity a “green event,” please go to Keep Irving Beautiful, or call (972) 721-2175.
