DeVol Design.Build.Remodel Supporting ALS Patients in Greater Cincinnati Area

DeVol Design.Build.Remodel is continuing their support of the ALS Association of Central & Southern Ohio and calls on the Cincinnati Metro area to support the 2017 Walk to Defeat ALSĀ®.

Loveland, OH, September 10, 2017 --( DeVol Design.Build.Remodel, an accessible home remodeling company in the Cincinnati metro area, is gearing-up for their second year supporting the Walk to Defeat ALS®. Employees, friends and clients of DeVol rally together to raise money and bring awareness to the plight of families stricken by ALS. The local Walk is held yearly by the ALS Association of Central & Southern Ohio to secure donations that help fund research to find a cure for ALS.

Often referred to as Lou Gehrig's Disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of an ALS patient averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis.

"When I first started working with clients who have ALS, it broke my heart," says Jeff DeVol, President of DeVol Design.Build.Remodel. "I saw these hurting families and I knew we needed to do something more than just remodel their houses so they could care for their loved ones easier. So, I formed a team for the Walk and started working with the folks at the ALS Association in Cincinnati."

A person is diagnosed with ALS every 90 minutes in the U.S. and someone passes away because of it every 90 minutes, as well. This disease can strike anyone, regardless of how old you are, what nationality you are, where you live or how much money you make.

There is no known cause of ALS and there is no cure. The average family with a loved one who has ALS will need an average of $200,000 a year to provide care for their family member.

After years of seeing what this disease is doing to families right here in the Cincinnati area, Mr. DeVol has this to say, "I believe a cure is out there; we just need enough money to find it. So, I'm asking everyone to get involved. If you can spare a little extra, donate to a team walking this year. If you can't, volunteer to support families in our community."
