Lucky Envelope Brewing Celebrates Mid-Autumn Festival with Specialty Beer Releases

Seattle, WA, September 21, 2017 --(PR.com)-- Lucky Envelope Brewing whose founders are of Chinese descent will celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival, a harvest festival celebrated in Asia, with a small batch lotus seed paste beer release inspired by mooncakes on Saturday, September 30th at their tasting room in Ballard. Traditionally the holiday is meant to bring family and friends together and to give thanks for the autumn harvest.

“When I lived in Los Angeles near my grandmother, it was family tradition for us to get together for the Mid-Autumn Festival and Chinese New Year celebrations,” said Raymond Kwan, co-founder of Lucky Envelope. “Everybody loved our Historic Mijiaya Chinese Beer released earlier this year, so we thought it would be fun to share our mooncake-inspired lotus seed paste beer during the Mid-Autumn Festival.” Mooncakes are a baked delicacy eaten during the festival and traditionally made from lotus seed paste.

The first 30 guests who stop in on the day of the event will receive a lucky envelope with a special coupon. In addition Lucky Envelope will also be serving free mooncakes, while supplies last.

As an added bonus, in continuation of their monthly Barrel-Aged beer releases, Lucky Envelope will be releasing a vanilla imperial milk stout that has been aged for nine months. Vanilla beans add a delicious round richness to the beer’s milk chocolate and coffee notes. Lucky Envelope regularly releases a barrel-aged beer on the last Saturday of each month.

Lucky Envelope takes its name from the Chinese tradition – tied closely with the Lunar New Year celebration – of elders bestowing often red-and-gold envelopes to loved ones as a gesture of luck and goodwill. Lucky Envelope is a family-friendly craft brewery headquartered in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle. The brewery has garnered accolades since its May 2015 opening, including several medals at the 2016 & 2017 Washington Beer Awards and at the prestigious 2015 Great American Beer Festival® (GABF) competition.
