SIIA Applauds House Leaders on Introduction of International Communications Privacy Act

Washington, DC, October 27, 2017 --(PR.com)-- The Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA) today joined with a coalition of trade associations in support of H.R. 3718 - the International Communications Privacy Act (ICPA). SIIA is pleased that the House introduced a companion bill to the Senate’s version of ICPA, S. 1671.

Mark MacCarthy, SIIA Senior Vice President of Public Policy, issued the following statement:

“With increasing consumer and business reliance on cloud-computing, it is crucial that users enjoy trust in these systems, and that companies can comply with lawful requests for information. Today SIIA joined with other leading industry groups to voice our strong support of H.R. 3718, a bill which would modernize our outdated privacy laws that were created before the digital age to more accurately reflect today’s technological realities.

“SIIA applauds Representatives Doug Collins (GA-9), Darrell Issa (CA-49), Hakeem Jeffries (NY-8), and Suzan DelBene (WA-1) for their leadership in the House and urges swift passage of the bill.”
