Santa Visits Senior Living Communities in Austin

Austin, TX, December 12, 2017 --(PR.com)-- Santa visited Austin just before Thanksgiving to provide complementary photographs to seniors who live in Senior Living Communities. The seniors took a photo with Santa on his sleigh, which was provided by Heavenly Care Moving. The moving truck was decorated in a scene that you might find in any home in America, complete with overstuffed chairs and a decorated Christmas Tree.

The seniors that were photographed were anxious to have a printed photo to share with their loved ones over the Thanksgiving holidays. Several asked to sit on Santa’s lap, and Santa was happy to oblige. Some seniors included their beloved pets in their photo, and mentioned they would frame those photos to enjoy for the years to come.

The Travelling Santa Photo Booth was the brain child of the owner of Heavenly Care Moving, Scott Kandel. Heavenly Care Moving, among other things, specializes in senior moves, both locally and nationwide, and handles storage. Scott knew the seniors would love a visit from Santa, and wanted to visit as many as possible. Outfitting one of his trucks as a traveling Santa photo booth was a perfect way to visit them and kick off the holiday season. Scott is a part of the Austin Senior Resource Alliance who helped coordinate the two-day event.

She has made it her mission to educate and answer questions of older adults regarding post-retirement living, helps to sponsor many events thru out the year and was happy to assist along with the other alliance members. “Bringing joy and cheer to seniors during the holidays with the Travelling Santa Photo Booth was something I wanted to help make happen, so when Scott contacted ASRA we immediately agreed. It was one of the days this year that I will remember most, with giggling seniors and santa’s helpers.”

Santa travelled to six communities this year: Skye Luxury Senior Living Apartments, Village on the Park Onion Creek, The Clairmont, The Continental, The Heritage at Hunters Chase and Lake Travis Independent Living. He hopes to visit more communities next year.
