‘It Is All About The Gathering’ celebrates the relationship between food and events. The May 2008 Edition of the ‘In The Kitchen’ Journal is full of recipes popular for events, such as Weddings, Birthdays, Kwanzaa, Thanksgiving, Family Reunions, etc. The Akua Projects is accepting recipes for special events of all kinds. Short biographies about the event’s recipe are welcome, 250 word count maximum. A short story, poetry, essay, report and article submissions are to have a 1000-1500 word count maximum. All written entries will be researched before acceptance. If people appear in photo entries, evidence of model release will be required.

The ‘In the Kitchen’ Journal is a review of all the recipes published in The Akua Projects – Akua Magazine.Net - In the Kitchen and volunteer submissions. This journal is released twice a year, May and October. “Food is my way of showing and sharing love. In every culture, they all share the importance of food, esp. great food,” says Founder and Owner of The Akua Projects, Shanise B.

The Akua Projects consist of The Akua Magazine.Net including Chatting with Shanise B. Show, The Akua Lounge & Podcast Channel and Akua Publishing. In the winter of 2008, Akua Couture will be The Akua Projects newest addition. The Akua Projects is the brain-child of Ms. Arika S. Hames aka Shanise B. Arika (Ah-re’-kah) attends Temple University’s Real Estate Institute and has also studied Radio-TV-Film, Education and African Studies at Temple University’s Main Campus. Through Akua Projects, Shanise B. shows her support of the African Diaspora, the BBW (Big & Beautiful Women) Community and the Artist Community. Shanise B.’s motto is ‘Do It B.I.G., Beautifully, Intelligently and Generously.’
